The Role

The Trainee Recruitment Consultant is responsible for sourcing job seekers to match specific job vacancies for a small and highly-successful recruitment and training company specialising in the scientific, environmental and engineering industries. Utilising a variety of databases and online resources, the successful candidate will make first-stage telephone contact with all candidates, ensuring an effective and speedy recruitment process on behalf of the company’s distinguished and much valued clients.

The consultant will carry out the recruitment process from: 1) search and selection, utilising a variety of databases, online resources and head hunting; 2) making first stage telephone contact with all candidates and; 3) final face-to-face assessment and shortlisting for clients.  The process thereby ensures an effective, professional and speedy recruitment procedure on behalf of Assimilate Ltd's distinguished and much valued clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Researching and sourcing job seekers to match the exact requirements of the current vacancies from company’s clients;
  • To make contact with selected candidates via telephone and email, alerting them to the
  • vacancies and providing them with job details;
  • Arranging subsequent interviews for those short listed candidates with the company’s Senior Recruitment Consultant;
  • Working with the Business Administrator, ensuring the company’s database is updated with all relevant activities for each and every vacancy;
  • Conduct market research within the scientific, environmental and engineering industries, to identify potential new clients and candidates, using the internet and specific trade journals;
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Company’s website and other marketing activities;
  • Carry out other more general office duties as and when required.

Essential Skills

The Candidate

Most suited to this role would be someone who is keen to embark on their working career, having completed their higher education. The ideal candidate would then seek to progress their career and develop in the role by means of comprehensive on the job training.

The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent qualification in a business subject such as Business Management/Administration or someone with a good degree backed up with an interest in sales or business development.  You will also possess:

  • Excellent communication skills - written and oral
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm and genuine ambition to succeed
  • Focus to maintain essential direction for the task in hand to completion
  • An interest in business development and a proactive approach to this
  • Full and preferably clean driving licence

However, relevant work experience and/or vocational qualifications would also be considered beneficial. A friendly and polite manner is essential, in addition to confidence in communicating via the telephone. Furthermore a high degree of self motivation, creative-thinking and accuracy would serve this role well.
